Hello, Dr. Hsu. My question has to do with the (sadly unlikely)
possibility of your undertaking a future chess project using DB-like chess
chips. We know that you have acquired the rights to the DB chip design from
IBM. It has been reported that in one recent talk you gave you stated that IBM
had retained all rights to DB's evaluation function. So, really, two questions:
(1) Just the evaluation function? Or most or all of the final DB software?
(2) How can a new team effectively recreate DB's eval function (or more)
without you, consciously or not, impinging on IBM's intellectual property?
Thanks!
