Hello, Does it have to be a new computer? There's lots of good used ones around in the $5 to $30 range. Most of the older tabletops would be more than suitable for someone in the area of 1400. I bought a "Radio Shack 2150" (around 1500-1600 stength) at a pawn shop for $10 adaptor included. It has a nice large sensory playing board and though it didn't have an owner's manual, figuring it out was pretty easy. That was 2 years ago and it still works fine today. I've also seen the odd chess computer at yard sales. Just make sure they let you try it out before you plunk down your 5 or 10 dollars. Regards, Peter
