The previous information was clear(at least for me).

Bob Hyatt simply had a strong opinion and did not want to believe that the
previous information that he got was wrong inspite of all the hints of Hsu.

Almost every programmer(and probably every programmer without a previous opinion
about the subject) was convinced by the words of Hsu that 12 is
hardware+software.
