About a bit less than Fritz has. We talk about 40-60 patterns. Each pattern of course in hardware referenced by an array. Starting in advance already with 768 adjustable parameters. However let's skip the 'adjustable parameter count'. One can create as many as you like as each parameter can be referenced by an array, bigger or smaller. More important is the number of patterns. THAT number which is the crucial factor, is obviously very limited to 40-60 at most. The reason why i focus upon the number of patterns is because in software not referencing an array but a single value for a pattern is way faster in general. So the way to compare is the number of patterns. In my viewpoint what deep blue has is very little. The play indicates that clearly. It doesn't know a thing about doubled pawns, good/bad color of the bishops (fritz doesn't either). Aggressive towards opponents king. Last but least i need to note that Hsu can't play chess at all. Even if it had 2 patterns he would call it 'a lot of knowledge'. Just like i call my draughts (international 10x10 checkers) program very knowledgeable. >I have just finished the book by Feng-Hsiung Hsu. In just a shot, from after >lunch to this time, meal time.
