I would speak more of "style" than of personality. In order to have a definite style, a player needs to be very strong, approaching technical perfection on good days. Weaker players may have some stylistic features, but they are more difficult to recognise due to the mistakes they make. Those very strong players I mentioned are capable of playing extremely well in a wide variety of positions. They make very few mistakes, and they are very effectiv in capitalising on the opponent's mistakes. My point of view is: the "style" of a player is the way she/he prefers in order to induce mistakes of her/his opponent in approximately equal positions. José.
