Are you using win ME or Xp with System restore on and playing chess while
multitasking? If so right click on MY COMPUTER-> PROPERTIES-> Troubleshooting->
uncheck system restore. THis is hell on wheels for tablebases. There is a folder
called C:/RESTORE that cannot be changed at all. This is where windows makes
back up copies any time a file is opened of all your files > 1 MB I think. When
TB access is going think of all the fun!
