Memory leak detectors like:
Electric Fence:
http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/devel/lang/c/ElectricFence-2.0.5.tar.gz
Purify
Bounds Checker

Debugging heaps like:
SmartHeap by Micrquill

Some compilers have heap problem detection built in, with special compiler
options set (like the AIX C compiler).

Lots and lots of options.
