My favorite obscure bug was inside an expression parser, i made some years ago.
Due to easier program structure i prefetched a character via *(ptr+1) without
checking before whether *ptr is already the string terminator.

No problem so far. But very seldom i got an "access violation".
With the help of doctor watson i figured out that that happened, when ptr+1 was
exactly on 4KB boundery.
