My favorite obscure bug was inside an expression parser, i made some years ago. Due to easier program structure i prefetched a character via *(ptr+1) without checking before whether *ptr is already the string terminator. No problem so far. But very seldom i got an "access violation". With the help of doctor watson i figured out that that happened, when ptr+1 was exactly on 4KB boundery. Gerd
