It is obviously possible.  But it is not something I am interested in doing
because it
requires a huge amount of effort.  It is easier to be lazy, knowing that in 10
years,
the common microprocessor will be as fast as special-purpose hardware designed
and
built today.  And all I have to do is wait.  :)
