Hello Rloger,

I don't have any experience of Malaysia specifically, but I have been active in
the club scene in Britain for many years and maybe I have some good suggestions
for you to find a local club.

Firstly, try asking in your nearest public library (not the university library,
but an ordinary public one). They may keep a list of local clubs and societies
of all kinds, including chess clubs. If this does not help, every country has
its own national Chess Federation. If you look up the number for the Malaysian
one, they may tell you the names and addresses of your nearest big chess clubs,
but they might well not be aware of smaller, less competitive clubs that may be
nearer to you. Finally, before doing any of all this, do check if there is not a
chess club at the university. Many universities have them, but often they are
not very well publicised, and sometimes poorly organised because of the rapid
turnover of members, most being students who leave when they finish studying.

By the way, I should point out that what we are discussing is not really on
topic here, as this is meant to be a forum for computer chess (rather than just
chess). This leads me to wander if there is any research in the AI field at
Peninsular University that might be relavant to chess programming? If so, we
would all be interested to hear about it here. And if all efforts to find a club
near to you fail, you must have computers at university, and there are lots of
programs out there....

Best wishes,
Roberto
