F-H.Hsiung definitely refers to "the American Open" being Oct 8-10 in LA, CA
... and has the Software Toolworks Championship (including the Larsen Game)
"between Nov 24 and 27" in Long Beach, California.

... but there are several sources, probably not all independent and including
Levy's "How Computers Play Chess" that cite this game as from the 'American
Open'.

They can't all be right, can they?

... there was also a 'U.S.Open' earlier in the year.
