Subject: Fritz5 and Extreme Chess Copy Protection

I tried to find a way to circumvent the copy protection
on Fritz5 and Extreme Chess (I own both.) It is not that
I want to steal the program, but I am just tired of having
to insert the CD all the time.

The approach that I tried was to copy all of the files on the Fritz5
CD to a directory on my hard drive and use the program "FAKECD" to
make the OS think that it had an extra CD-ROM. This approach didn't
work.

So one day Extreme Chess tells me to insert the CD. I accidently
inserted the Fritz 5 CD instead and it worked! I find this curious, because
Fritz 5 didn't exist when Extreme Chess was developed. I wonder if the Extreme
Chess CD would also substitute for Fritz5?
