Particularly when a modern freeware program running on a 166MHz Pentium is quite enough to utterly waste me time after time; buying the "best processor for chess" would be an exercise in masochism as well as for the contents of my bank account ;) (I have a 1GHz machine with no chess software installed on it apart from scid, as I prefer to pit my wits against PalmOS programs. Doubtless one of the usual suspects will soon be posting about how the new ARM-based PalmOS machines are "best for chess" and another £400 should be poured down Sony's greedy throat :) Alastair
