In the old days I had a somewhat slow AMD 450 in which CSTAL runned at around 3 to 4 Knodes per second. That was and it is a paltry number to any kind of program, but even more for one based in knowledge. Even so, CSTAL was ever capable of giving me more than one beating. It was daring and always entertainning. Now, in my Athlon 1500 +, the count has gone to around 45 Knods per second and the game it can give is lot stronger and even more interesting. Simply before it went 9 ply deep in middle game and now it is 11 or 12. With that CSTAL does not fall anymore in tactical shots or in too much risky combs. It is pleasure to play it and I truly miss the fact that this very funny program -for humans- will not ever get an upgrade. Of course the same can be said of Mchess, Wchess and so many others that were victims of the retirement of his creators. Pity. Fernando
