Most downloaded the engines or programs via some peer to peer. Others traded ids or rating pts for engines(once you have a chessbase program,its a relatively simple matter to email the engine and modify the program to not ask for the CD. Fortunately, I know of no instance of chesstiger 15 being pirated in yahoo. Everyone who is using it has paid for it; most downloaded it from Lex's excellent site. Until Chessbase shows a willingness to address this serious issue of theft of intellectual property, I don't blame Chris or Lex for avoiding Chessbase.
