I think that the suggestion concerning weekly or monthly refueling is a reasonable attempt to prevent illegal pirating and I personally would have no problem with this procedure. If the company were to go out of business, either the company buying the assets of Chessbase would continue with the periodic check, or Chessbase could create a patch to disable the security feature. I think that those who argue most passionately against a company defending its legitimate commercial interests bring suspicion upon themselves.
