As you've said, this only works for online playing. A lot of people don't play online. Some games only use this method, like Quake III, because it's an online game only. >Panda Antivirus' Method >1)A chessbase customer buys the CD from a licenced shop. >2)He installs it. This is completely aggravating, and doesn't stop the cracks anyway; or even Keygens. What if I want to install it on multiple computers? I usually install stuff on all my home computers, laptop, work machines, etc., to have when on the road or whenever. (Incidentally, this is why I hate CD checks: I have to constantly carry around the CDs). So, Chessbase would need extensive customer service to allow this. Microsoft gets away with it because they can throw the money at it to back it up, but chessbase? >Combine these methods with the usual methods of REBEL, GENIUS or SHREDDER 5 to >boost security. > >This is very hard for the users and chessbase people, but sacrifice! The future >will be better for all of us. Not really. An off the shelf program like Chessmaster probably has more of a piracy problem than specialty software like Chessbase. Frankly I'm kind of the fence with some of this: if some junior high school kid pirates chessbase 8, so what? As has been said, you can't stop it. I don't want my life made harder. Brian
