I downloaded Arasan 5.2 about a year or so ago from a disk I bought of something like 50 programs of different games, and this was the chess program that was on it. I can't recall any other program that is so tacticaly "on the ball". There is hardley a game which I play against it, that it does not pull off some unexpected, briliant tactic.(I'm well over 2000, when really serious) If you ever play that program (even at one second per move [for Arasan] on a 800mhz. or faster computer), woe is you if it looks like you are acheiving any kind of advantage. All it means is that your dreams are about to come to a swift end! It was completely aware of whatever you might have wanted to do good, and laid a neat tactical trap for you, if you were about to try it. In fact, it defends with traps, one after another! Are there other programs quite like that? It's interesting that I havn't seen it discussed! S.Taylor
