Let's say, they are based on different versions of the same software. AFAIK, the CG-Palm is based on Lang's old Mephisto ROMA program, originally for the 68000 architecture. There had been a few subsequent versions for the 68000 (Mephisto Vancouver, ...). Later, the port of this code to the PC architecture became the famous Genius program. So, beside of the hardware difference, the Palm program is practically an older version of the Genius software.
