I'm interested to know how many programs there are with a human voice, and what their different characteristics are. And especially, I'm interested in which program has a voice which makes the most relevant comments. I thought about this now when looking at the thread of "Female chess engine". People say that "Power chess" program (where can one get it from??) has a female voice etc. I think there is a lot of scope for such features, and I'm wondering if there already are many such programs with a voice. But what I think is most helpful is when the voice says something relevant to the position. Even if the evaluation just shows a sudden drop, there might be something in the engine which recognizes it to have been an attempted combination etc. so the voice can relate to this, even if the numerical evaluation cannot afford to. The good of ANY human voice idea is that it can help me concentrate more on the game. But it's helpful if it makes a bit of sense, and if the humour is good (but not sick!) it also helps. I suppose, even if it speaks rubbish (about the position), It makes me look around to see if it makes sense. But futility has its limits, and anyway, the more relevant and intelligent, is certainly all the better. SO, WHICH PROGRAM AT PRESENT HAS THE MOST INTELLIGENT CHATTER? AND, CAN THE NEXT UPGRADE OF FRITZ DO SOMETHING REALLY GOOD (FOR FRITZ 8)? Hopeful! S.Taylor
