The Chess Analysis Project has been fairly quiet for the last two years. There has been analysis continuing, and many millions of positions have been compiled. However, there is going to be a big breakthrough in the very near future. The big problem with the project before was all of the manual steps that had to be performed by the operators. The new format has clients and servers, where the clients run as screen savers (like the SETI project or the GIMPS project) and require very little end user intervention. The new system has been in beta test for quite some time, and a good deal of progress has been made recently. I had expected release as early as last July, but that goal met with dissapointment. I can only say that the new tool set will be available "soon".
