I do not understand your formula
what is qvalue?
If I suppose that Checkmate is a big number and qvalue is the score of the
qsearch
then your formula tells usually not to extend.
The typical case is when alpha=0 Qsearch score=0
0>CHECKMATE-0?
No
It means not to extend.
