I think Will's point was that if a program kibitzes a score and PV, then it makes it harder for the human to interfere behind the scenes, and it would let everyone know what the programs are seeing as well, probably making the games more interesting to watch. I certainly want to see an automatic-only rule. Kibitzing scores and the PV is also a good idea.
