The hashtable is a piece of the memory that the program uses to remember stuff from the search. When the engine isn't playing no hashtable exists, it is not a file on the harddrive :) So, clearing the hashtable it is like resetting the memory of the program that is running. You probably need to reset for each individual engine, unless the interface will reset for all the engines that are playing (loaded and active) at the same time, I can't say for sure, maybe the help file can answer that one. >And another question about hashtables ,when i am running tournaments in Fritz 7 >Gui :the all engines is using hashtables, but from the games played by itself ? >For example: is Fritz 7 engine using the hashtables of games played not by >itself(Fritz 7 engine)or only is using hashtables from own games ? No, fritz has its own piece of memory and doesn't read the memory/hashtables of other programs. I am pretty sure Fritz also clears the hashtable between games, it would be the most logical thing to do because it can't reuse the information in a new game anyway. Unless you want to do some specific testing of hashtable significanse, I suggest you don't worry about it at all, the engines/GUI know best when to clear the hash. Just make it as large as you can, for optimal play :) -S. >Thanks in forwards
