I should have been more clear - the standard size board on a B&W is just as good as the standard size board of other Palm programs on a B&W Palm. Your comment about more views and colors and sizes are true and duly noted. > >With ChessMaster for example you cannot have both the chessboard and the move >list on the board... With both ChessGenius and Chess Tiger it is possible. Very true - serious defect - also the program "takes over" the hardware buttons - and if you have them mapped to do something else - it won't work. In some views, the hardware buttons lose all funtionality and you get a stupid message about that button doesn't work in this screen - another serious defect in CM. > >ChessMaster, as far as I can see, does not allow you to change the colors. Both >ChessGenius and Chess Tiger allow it. I don't know - since I have a B&W - but I belive you. Also they have goofy layout of Icons that are not very meaningful. For example, you can turn the board sideways (?), but I have yet to find a way to get the evaluation during a game. You apparantly have to use takeback to get the analysis. They did not have serious chess players in mind or they are not chess players themselves. Other defects - No pgn capability - but it does have save and load functionality - but it's not pgn. The default ALWAYS bring up the standard CM personality that ponders - pondering is an option that you may not want activated in a Palm - esp on a long trip. You may modify the personality so it doesn't ponder - but the whole process is much more inconvenient than CT or CG. I don't see a way to import/export a game outside program -- no way to transfer it to a pc easily. Thus when you save the game, there is no way to get it out of the Palm electronically (which is one of the purposes of having a Palm) The analysis function requires using takeback -- so the whole excercise of trying to analyse your game on the Palm or PC is very difficult and actually very painfull compared to CT of CG. You would not want to do this on a regular basis. The engine is actually stronger than I previuosly thought - how much stronger I don't know. I sent an email two days ago about how buggy the software is - I still haven't heard a response. It intially bounced back as invalid - but then I re-sent it to the received from address ( Ubisoft address!) - and still haven't heard. This Gameloft is apparantly a Ubisoft operation - and without JM there - we know what there customer support will be like. If I don't hear a response in another two days, I will issue a claim for a refund from my credit card company. Bottom line - stay away! Michael > > > > Christophe > > > > >
