And this was using gcc 2.95.2 which is the fastest gcc I have found for crafty. gcc 3.2 is 10% slower than 2.95.2 for me, approximately. I am using intel's compiler. It is _very_ close to MSVC speed for crafty, at least to the released version of MSVC. Eugene probably has a few tricks up his sleeve on the next version of the compiler. :) RedHat 8.0 ships with gcc 3.2, just for the record.
