I would be inclined to support Fischer Random Chess as opposed to other variants because it would allow all the rules of classical chess. While this may not prevent computers from becoming supreme it would I believe do away with the many draws currently made although that doesn't seem to be a problem at the lower levels of play. Also none of the excellent computer programs we have would be outdated. In other words chess would still be chess even though the starting positions may vary.
