Do you mean how soon will I update the comparison to CB 9 and CA 7?

I am elated, but tired ;-) I was very involved with the beta testing, and it was
a long, intense process. You have to understand that Convekta's concept for what
constitutes a new release for a program is totally alien to what people have
come to expect. They really do provide a whole host of new functions with each
change in version number.

Succinctly - working with the tree is much easier. There are many more functions
to support various tasks, be it test suite processing, analysis, etc. It works
faster. It is the best tool for opening analysis and research.

The negatives? It does not look as nice as CB. The learning curve may be steeper
(but I don't know about this last one). I will also say that technically
inclined people really like CA. The only ones that have significant trouble are
those whose computer skills are not that great.

A short story - I once spent an evening talking with GM Kaidanov. We were at a
friends house. My friend has both CB and CA on his computer. Kaidanov had been a
long term Chessbase user, but when he saw what CA could do, he was truly amazed.
The thing that really impressed him was the availability of so much important
opening data that was updated as moves were being played through on the board.
He simply was not aware of what the program could do, until he saw it in action.

Incidentally, I received an e-mail this night from someone else that had to deal
with Convekta support on the WinXP issue. He heaped superlatives on the support
team for their assistance. It sounds like a few of them pulled all-nighters to
help him out.

Incidentally - Convekta is really involved with CAP, they (and Dann) have really
put a lot of resources, both computer and otherwise, on the problem.

>P.S. I wonder how many Bobs there are here.

I think it is a generational thing.
