The "write to cache error" message appears in Fritz's bottom right window when I do very intensive tasks.. copies of large amounts of games, imports into the tree.. it is not a "system" error message. So all of the above lead me to believe that it is Fritz and not tha hardware that malfunctions. Anyway.. I dont rule out any possibility apriori.. but given the wide variety of errors with Fritz and the above reasons (and just Fritz) I would plce "hardware" at the bottom of the list.
