Obviously, if you have 3/4 million games, you are not going to do it manually. You will also not be able to hire a team of qualified human analysts unless you have tons of money to throw away. You must come up with some kind of fully automated system which runs by itself. If you ask a chess engine to analyze many games, and set the threshold to several pawns, the engine may run fairly quickly and go through a lot of games in a reasonable amount of time, like 6 months. The problem is that setting the threshold too high would cause you to accept inferior games too often. Setting the threshold down to one pawn would slow down the process. Perhaps it would be best to start with games played by very strong players. Another idea might be to use only annotated games. The problem with that is that there may not be any way to fully automate the process. Making a very large high-quality opening book may not be all that easy. Bob D. : ) Bob D.
