A few comments:

(1) I don't think anyone _has_ to participate. IE there are lots of reasons
why someone might not be able (or want) to participate. Schedule conflicts,
work conflicts, other plans, family, etc.

(2) If anyone doesn't want to participate, they should be able to make that
decision and simply not participate.

(3) the "amateurs only" comment is a bit arrogant. IE I don't think I can
easily win an "amateurs-only" event. I can't think of a single program that
_could_ win such an event easily. I don't think a commercial program can win
this "easily". We have had commercial programs in each of the CCT events.
They didn't win them all...

I guess the bottom line is that if someone is (a) not interested in competing;
(b) afraid to lose; (c) unable to compete for whatever reason; that is their
right...

I'll try to do these whenever I can. I hope others do as well... The ones
that skip it will be the real "losers" as the event is fun, the discussions are
interesting, etc...
