Subject: Quality Poll

In an effort to reduce noise (ie, floods of idiotic messages), and to encourage
literate and/or salient messages, I propose we do a CCC poll. Remember those?
Each regular poster (one who has posted a message in the last 14 days) is
listed, along with a choice. Choices are 1) Top-notch, 2) Good, 3) OK, 4)
marginal, and 5) say what? After each 14-day period, the rankings are listed.
This would enable members to more efficiently use the board. It might also have
the desirable effect of discouraging those folks who continue to post junk to
desist, while encouraging more relevant and enlightened discussion.

I originally thought of this as a joke, but it seems to have merit. It might
actually increase the value of the board.

Variations on the theme are possible. Members may have a number affixed to
their posts, indicating the value placed upon their thoughts. Perhaps
color-coded.
