It's gone as the site is in deliberate statis, but there used to be a forum on www.unmetered.org.uk which initially used the Slashdot forum software. Because the issue being discussed was (at the time) controversial there were essentially two groups of people: - Those (not employees of telecommunications companies or, if they were, pseudonymous employees) who posted; - Those (generally employees of telecommunications companies, as lookups on the IP addresses in logs showed :) who didn't post but, rather, tried to moderate down the posts not congruent to their view of the world. After a month or so we abandoned the whole thing, as the second action in particular generated a mass of complaints to the owners of the board, and went with the Discus forum software in which every post is of equal weighting (until you read the content and make up your own mind as to its worth ...). We also banned anonymous posting - you had to set up a username and password - and stated up front that every posting IP address would be displayed _one click away from the post in a popup_. That cleared things up PDQ :) Unfortunately, given half a chance, narrow-minded people will find almost anything objectionable and try to censor it :( Alastair
