The "young Josh" opening books are much smaller, so it is much easier to get out
of book sooner against against those personalities than it is against the
Chessmaster personality.

Also, different combinations of settings can result in a kind of "indecisive"
personality. Depending on the time control, this can cause a personality to take
quite some time to make its moves once it is out of book.

Which is something I was planning for the next version....

You gave the engine 300 seconds to give you advice, but how long did the program
have to make its move once you made your move? Was it also about 300 seconds? If
it was a very different amount of time, that would easily explain the different
reply. The "mentor" engine and the engine(s) playing the game do not communicate
in any way; they are completely separate entities.

You need to make a copy of each personality that you intend to play against and
change the hash table size for each one of them.

If you want to change the hash table size for the mentor engine, then you need
to "Preferences -> Mentor" and change that setting in that dialog.
