How about your local Radio Shack? I have the 2150L Chess Champion, and I love it. It has a sensory board for actual pieces, and it also has a LCD board for verifying positions. The latest model is the 2250L (at least it was the latest model several years ago). When it was new it ran about $150 and was estimated about 2200 elo. I think this is reasonable, or at least the rating is not as much an exageration as other computers. I haven't looked at the RS computers for some time now, and don't know whether they still have them, or if they have been discontinued, or even if there is a later model available.
