although I should point out, it is not a "new" standard at all.  It is one that
at least a dozen programs are already using (IE I just played a batch of games,
Phalanx 18 vs Crafty, using xboard, which flips sides, saves the match games in
a pgn file, etc...  and even lets me watch the game on a graphical board....
