An interesting variant is with a black pawn on a6: [D]1r4r1/3q1npk/p1b1pbnp/Rp1p4/1N1P3P/2PQ1pP1/1K3B2/5B1R w - - 0 1 Methinks this would make the time to find much shorter as it stops the mass sacrifice of both Black Rooks and Queen, pushing the mate back ... ?
