Most people that try them, eventually end up liking them.

Others never try them and try to convince the rest that they can't work,
they are too slow, you can't do sophisticated stuff with them, etc.

There is nothing wrong with non-bitmap programs.  Just as there is nothing
wrong with bitmappers...  They are just different, and have different strengths
and weaknesses.  But they will become more important as 64 bit processors roll
out over time.
