If I haven't been in book for a couple of moves (5 moves at the moment, I think), I don't probe the book anymore, though. With my hardware (and the hardware I have access to), the binary search scheme works fine on the ~100MB books I've used so far. I know it can easily be improved, but I see no reason to do it until the need arise. /David
