This is most likely DMA problems. Check both computers have DMA enabled in BIOS and in the OS. IF the egtbs are on the 5400 RPM drive - obviously things will be slower. The 5400rmmmm drive may even slow the whole IDE bus to say dma33, where the 7200 drive could be doing dma66 or dma100 (dma66 is the same at ata66 - just different words for the same thing). Make sure you are using high density IDE cable for above dma33. Seperate the slow drive onto a seperate IDE chain/controller. Scott
