Another interesting approach: "Using de Bruijn Sequences to Index a 1 in a Computer Word" Search for "de Bruijn Sequences" with Google.... and you will find a link to the pdf- or ps-file. Some similarities with the mod67, lookup idea? Even the "float"-conversion is an old trick, but becomes really interesting now with this fast 3DNow- or SSE(2)- integer2float-Instructions. Gerd
