Why not see see it as part of the test whether the engine uses the TBs without
getting too slow and/or the engine can decide effectively where and when to use
the TBs. E.g. if there are all pieces still on board you don't have to check
each node whether current position can be found in TBs or not.

Besides that I see no reasons to generally damn this test. You just have to be
carfull when reading the results and making your conclusions... and perhaps you
can think of making a more accurate evaluation of what the engine says about the
position as long as the whole number of positions is not big enough to just
trust in statistics.
