E.g. if there are all pieces still on board you don't have to check each node whether current position can be found in TBs or not. Besides that I see no reasons to generally damn this test. You just have to be carfull when reading the results and making your conclusions... and perhaps you can think of making a more accurate evaluation of what the engine says about the position as long as the whole number of positions is not big enough to just trust in statistics.
