In my experience, the "second best" move and sometimes third are *occasionally*
the best moves!!!!

This becomes very important in post-mortem analyses where improvements are being
sought.  Post-mortem analyses are usually much more thorough [in-depth] than the
analyses of engines playing under a clock.  It is in such analyses that the best
moves are found.
