We have been witnessing with great amazement Mr. Louwman's presence in the last two World Computer Chess Championships held in Maastricht. In 2001, he was there with his wife, operating Chess Tiger. She was there to replace him during the rounds as his health deteriorated. Talking to him about the tournament, I recall he maintained very strong views about the different programs participating - "living computer chess". Then, in 2002, Mr. Louwman was there again, this time alone...as his wife past away. Although with ill health, one could not miss his devotion to the sport and how important it was for him to be present. Now, with Mr. Louwman gone, our community lost an important member. My deep condolences to his family and friends. May they know no more sorrow. -- Shay Bushinsky
