Hello all, Crafty is NOT a UCI engine. But with the help of the winboard to UCI ultility (wb2uci.exe), it can very much be implemented into an UCI interface. The advantage of the UCI GUI implementation over the Winboard GUI is that the command settings are in the GUI interface in a windows enviroment - keeping the user out of the tedious effort of making changes to a text file to change an engine setting. Currently, there are files available, already pre-edited, that allow a Fritz 7/Shredder 6 user to install Crafty via the UCI convertor tool and have the main crafty options accessible via the Fritz 7/ Shreddder GUI. In addition, I have modified Crafty to accept additinal commands that are not in the real crafty. They are piece value settings, personality settings, and a special delay move function that prevents the computer from moving instantly if it's in a weakened state, e.g., by setting search depth to 1. These are free via email to me at mfbyrne_pa@msn.com. I have also created Arena *.eng files that accomplished the same objective as above for the Arena GUI. These are in beta mode are available for the asking via email to me at the same address. If this is of interest to you, please email me a request to the above address for the files. Please be sure to state what GUI you are interesed in. Enjoy! Michael Byrne
