Recently I've been looking at a few positions which take (a slightly modified) Crafty 19.1 a large number of nodes before it can complete a depth-1 search. I am wondering what the node counts are for other programs, and specifically if Crafty's node counts are normal enough or an outlier. Yes, I realize that "depth 1" is defined differently by different engines. Here are some positions: [D] 1r3rk1/3qn1bp/p1np2p1/1ppNpp2/2P2P2/1PNPP1P1/PB4QP/1R3RK1 w - - mod-crafty-19.1: 61990 nodes [D] 1rb2rk1/1pq3bp/1Np1n3/p1Pp1p1n/1P1Np3/P2PP1P1/1BQ3BP/R4RK1 w - - mod-crafty-19.1: 196561 nodes [D] r4rk1/2q1bppp/2bp2n1/1p1Bp3/1BnPP3/2P1NN2/5PPP/R2Q1RK1 w - - mod-crafty-19.1: 48246 nodes [D] 3qrrk1/pb5p/1p1p2p1/2p1pp2/1PPbPPn1/P2P2P1/1BQ3BP/1R1N1R1K w - - mod-crafty-19.1: 46489 nodes Dave
