My impression is that serious writers of chess books are now in the habit of
checking their work using chess software prior to publication. The use of
"blunder check" software seems especially common, although that is to find
tactical errors.

It seems an open question as to whether or not current chess engines have the
necessary "credentials" to rule on "positional" positions. The jury seems "out"
on that one, or at least that's my perception.

On the other hand, I would expect that a strong chess engine to be a powerful
tool in the hands of a strong chessmaster or GM.
