Subject: UCI engine in ChessBase 8.0 question

Author: Christopher A. Morgan

I installed Ruffian as a UCI engine in Fritz 7 GUI, using the Engine --> Create
UCI Engine menu. It seems to work fine as I played some games on the ChessBase
playing site with it, beating Yace and losing to DF7. In F7 under engine
management it is listed as an active engine. The engine itself is in an
unrelated folder. In the CB Engine folder I have a one kb file,
“Ruffian1.0.1.uci” file, and no other Ruffian file.

The problem is that in ChessBase 8 it is not listed as an active engine under
engine management or if I try to load it. It is not in the list. CB8 is fully
updated through the program automatic update/one click update. Isn’t CB8 UCI
compatible? Or do I need to do something else? Thanks!
