I'm not saying you shouldn't implement UCI, but if you already have support for everything that UCI supports, you're wasting time, unless there is some feature that you want that UCI supports that winboard doesn't. It goes both ways. If you had already implemented UCI, why would you bother spending 4 to 8 hours implementing the winboard protocol when you have no need for it? I'd rather spend 4 to 8 hours implementing something else.
