If I keep with my AMD 1.4 (266) and the few top programs which I'll see about within the next 2-3 months. I wonder if I'll be missing much during the next few years. IF I hang out for a next generation Hammer computer, and the next generation of programs, if written with that in mind, will that give me a great plus over what I have (and intend to have) now? And that would take another year, If I'm lucky! Ten I'll want the final hammer version, with the programs of then. That will be about 5 years from now, if lucky. And will THAT be so much greater? Now, If what I want is greater insights into chess, OK so I occasionally allow up to 2 hours per move with what I (will) have. That is already more insight than the computer side of the recent Kramnik/DF match, and the upcoming Kasparov/DJ match. Can I be sure that in 5 years from now, things will look so much different in quality of computerchess? Actual quality of insight? S.Taylor
